Tochal & Damavand Trekking Tour Brief introduction

Tochal and Damavand are two of the peaks in Tehran, the capital of Iran. This tour takes a short time for climbing two mountains. One of these mountains is the tallest mount in the Middle East with 5670 meters height. Also, Tochal mount is 3960 meters. We will conquer Tochal mount first, and after that, we will conquer Damavand mount.

In only five days we will conquer these two beautiful mountains. On the first two days, we will trek to the Tochal mount starting from Darband in Tehran. We will spend the first two nights in Shirpala hut in Tochal. Then, we will go to Rineh village for starting the Damavand mount trekking on the third day. We will conquer Damavand mount on the fourth day of our Iran tour. Then, we will spend the last day of our Iran tour by going to the hot water spring. This way, we can relax our muscles after four days of mountaineering.

Tochal & Damavand Trekking Tour At a Glance

Day 1: Drive to Darband (1800m); trek to Shirpala Hut at (2750m).

Day 2: Trek to Tochal Summit (3964m); Descend to Darband, Drive to Rineh Village.

Day 3: Transfer to Basecamp (3100m); Trek to Bargah-e Sevom (Damavand southern shelter at 4200m), Acclimatization trek up to 4700m.

Day 4: Trek to Damavand Summit (5671m); descend to Shelter at 4200 m.

Day 5: Descend to Basecamp; transfer to the village, rejuvenate in hot spring pool, Drive back to Tehran.

Tochal & Damavand Trekking Tour Detailed Itinerary

Day 1    Shirpala (2750m)

Today at 12:00 we drive to “Darband” from Alibabatrek’s Office (approx. 20 minutes) located at the feet of Mount Tochal at the north end of Tehran, we go to the Restaurant and have lunch, having some rest at a cozy atmosphere of Darband, we trek to the Shirpala Hut of Mount Tochal at 2750m (approx. 3 hours), have dinner, overnight Shirpala Hut.

Day 2       Tochal Summit (3960m)

Today is summit day of Tochal Peak, after having breakfast at 8:00 we will start trekking to the summit (approx. 4-5 hours), enjoy the magnificent view of the city of Tehran from the top (depending on the weather condition not to be cloudy!), taking lots of photographs. Then, descend to Shirpala Hut at 11:00 (approx. 2-3 hours), have a delicious lunch with some melon or watermelon. Rest for a while, then we leave Shirpala at 14:00, descend to the Darband (approx. 3 hours), having a tea or a coffee and some rest, then we drive to “Rineh” Village (approx. 3 hours) located at the feet of Mount Damavand, we go to the guest house, rest for a while, then we have lamb kebab in a cozy local restaurant, head back to the guest house and overnight there.

Day 3     Camp 3 or Bargah Sevom (almost 4200m)

Today after having breakfast we leave Village at 9:00, we transferred to the base camp of southern route of Mount Damavand named “Goosfandsara” (the sheep pasture) or the mosque at 3100m with 4WD cars (approx. 1 hour), hand the luggage to the porters, trek to the shelter at 4200m named “Bargah-e Sevom” or camp 3 (approx. 4 hours), have lunch in the shelter, rest for a while, then we go for a short acclimatization trek up to 4700m and descend to the shelter to have dinner, overnight the shelter.

Day 4  Climb Damavand Mount Summit (almost 5671m)

Today is the day we’ve been waiting for to climb the highest peak in the Middle East.

After having breakfast at 5:00 am, we will start trekking to the summit (approx. 5-6 hours) to enjoy the magnificent landscape from the top (depending on the weather condition not to be cloudy!) and taking lots of photographs.

Then, descend to the shelter at noon (approx. 2-3 hours), have a delicious lunch with some melon or watermelon, prepare for the rest in the evening and some good sleep.

Day 5     Basecamp , Rineh, Tehran

Today after a good sleep and having breakfast, descend to the base camp at 9:00 (approx. 2 hours’). Then, drive to the guesthouse and pick up our swimming costumes to enjoy an hour in the hot spring.

After that, we will have lunch in a cozy local restaurant, head back to the guest house, rest for a while; then we drive back to Tehran at 15:00, we head to the office, we have dinner, and that’s the end of our journey.
