Almost ¼ of Iran’s area are deserts and wildernesses. Therefore, many of the tourists who have interest in deserts choose Iran for traveling, especially in fall and winter. In this Iran journey, we will take you to the heart of the central desert of Ira and Kavir National Park.  This Iran tour package takes only four days. Safari, camping, the sceneries of the desert, sandy hills, and the sky full of stars are some of its attractions. Also, you can ride camels in the desert as well.

Kavir National Park is one of the biggest and oldest protected areas in Iran. Most of this park is in Garmsar city in Semnan province. Also, it has small parts in Tehran, Qom, and Isfahan. This area is about 670000 hectares; 420000 hectares of it is the national park, and the rest is protected area.

There used to be a huge diversity of animals in this area. Therefore, it was famous as the “Small Arica” or “Iran’s Serengeti.” Although the number of animals living in this area has reduced recently, still has all types of desert animals. Therefore, it is one of the nine biosphere reserves in Iran.

Riding in one of the Silk Road branches with camel convoys is a relaxing experience. You will experience walking with barefoot on the dunes and passing through the floor of a salt lake. Also, you will get to know many desert animals and plants. We will visit the historical sites in the center of Iran and go for visiting the several caravanserais in the deserts. Moreover, we will camp in Sargardan Island, which is a non-residential island in the salt lake. We will also camp in the Kavir National Park and stay a night there. We will spend the third night in Qasr-e Bahram, the famous caravanserai of Kavir National Park.

Iran Central Desert Trekking Tour Detailed Itinerary

Day 1          Driving to Qom, Aran, and Maranjab

We will start our Iran journey at 8 A.M and have breakfast on the way in a restaurant. Then, we will continue to arrive at Aran. There, we will get on 4WD cars and drive to Maranjab camp in Maranjab desert. On our way, we will enjoy watching attractions such as yardangs, the Red Valley (Dare Sorkh), etc.

After having lunch in a caravanserai, we will have a rest. Then, we will walk to the sandy hills to watch the sceneries and taking pictures.

After that, we will continue our way with a camel convoy. We will pass through the salt lake with the camels and get to Sargardan Island. There, we will camp and have dinner and then have tea while watching the stars.

Day 2          Trekking

On the morning of this day, we will have breakfast and pack up our camping stuff. Then, we will continue our way through the salt lake with the camel convoy until we arrive at the quicksands. After that, we will continue our way, which will be a mix of riding camels and walking. We will stand by a desert well to experience getting water from the desert well. After having lunch, we will continue our way on the Silk Road with the camel convoy.

Finally, we will arrive at the gate of the Kavir National Park and camp there. There, we will make fire and sit around it while eating dinner. We will overnight in tents.

Day 3          Trekking

On this day of our Iran desert tour, we will have breakfast in our camp. Then we will pack up and continue our way to Sefid Ab. We will have a walk in the historical Kavir National Park until we get to the historical remains of Sefid Ab caravanserai. After having a rest and a snack, we will continue our way. After that, we will pass by the yardangs until we get to a place for having lunch. Then, we will have a walk in Degh Barahoot-e Do Kaviri area and continue our way to Howz-e Qiluqeh. We will have a short stop to visit this cistern.

Finally, we will continue our trekking in the Silk Road to get to Qasr-e Bahram caravanserai. We will have dinner and overnight in the caravanserai.

Day 4          Trekking and Going Back to Tehran

After having breakfast, we will pay a visit to the remains of Shah Abbas’s Harem. After our visit, we will drive to the exit gate of Kavir National Park in Mobarakeh area. Then, we will drive back to Tehran and have lunch a bit later than usual in a restaurant.

Finally, we will continue driving to Tehran or drive to the airport.

The Services in This Trip:

This Iran journey is a full board trip. Therefore, you will not need to carry any extra food. We will serve two kinds of fruits as a snack each day. Also, we will have drinks, cakes, tea, desert herbal teas.

Moreover, we will roast potatoes when we are gathering around the fire and have nuts as well. Alibabatrek is responsible for carrying your backpacks. Therefore, you won’t have to worry about carrying your heavy bags.

The Difficulties of The Trip:

• There will be no shower in the desert! But, if you need to take a shower during our tour, you can warm up water in a special kettle for showering. Then, you can take a shower in a shower tent ( what an unforgettable experience!).
• In some parts of the trip, there might be no signal for your cell phones.
• You will have to use nature as your W.C in most days of the trip! But, on the first day of our tour, we will mention the rules for that which is very important.
• Atmospheric changes might affect the calmness of the desert.
• We will have a cooking team with us who use the best foodstuffs for cooking. However, you should be aware that cooking and serving food while trekking is hard.
