Sabalan Tour at a Glance

Day 1: Arrival at Tehran; Drive from Tehran to Ardabil.

Day 2: Drive to Shabil Village; Drive to Basecamp (Sabalan northeast Hut at 3650m), Acclimatization trek up to 4200m.

Day 3: Trek to Sabalan Summit (4811m); Descend to Basecam, Drive to Sarein City, Rejuvenate in hot spring pool.

Day 4: Drive back to Tehran.

Sabalan Tour Detailed Itinerary

Day 1        Ardabil

Today at 9:00 we drive to “Ardabil” (approx. 10 hours), we have lunch on the way at a restaurant, upon arrival we go to the hotel to have some rest, have dinner, overnight Ardabil at a hotel.

Day 2          Meshgin Shahr / Basecamp (3650m)

After having breakfast at the hotel at 8:00, we drive to visit Shahr YERI Historical Site, then we visit Suspended bridge around the Meshgin Shahr, after visit and taking photographs, at 11:00 we will continue to Meshgin Shahr (approx. 2 hours), have a good Lunch at a traditional Kebab House, rest for a while, we drive to Shabil Village at 2600m (approx. 1 hour and a half), Then we will be transferred to the base camp of northeast route of Mount Sabalan at 3650m with 4WD cars (approx. 2 hour), we trek up to 4200m (approx. 2 hours) and stay for a while to acclimatize, next we descend to the basecamp, have dinner, overnight the base camp in tents or hut.

Day 3          Sabalan Summit (4811m) / Sarein

Today is the day we’ve been waiting for to climb the Third highest peak in the Iran, after having breakfast at 6:00 we will start trekking to the summit (approx. 5 hours), enjoy the great landscape from the top (depending on the weather condition not to be cloudy!) and the nice lake on it, taking lots of photographs.

Descend to the basecamp at 12:00 (approx. 3 hours), have some melon or watermelon, then we will be transferred by 4WD cars to Shabil Village, after having shower we go for dinner, overnight Shabil Village at the guest house. the lunch, drive to Sarein (approx. 5 hours), we go to the hotel, rest for a while, and pick up our swimming costumes to enjoy an hour in the hot spring; after such a hard day, it would be absolutely delightful, then we have lamb kebab and Dough soup in a local cozy restaurant, After a good dinner, Overnight Sarein in the hotel.

Day 4          Sarein / Ardabil / Tehran

After having breakfast at the guest house at 9:00 we drive to Sarein city (approx. 2 hours) to enjoy an hour at the hot spring pool (one of the nicest hot spring area in Iran) it would be absolutely delightful after climbing the summit to refresh, then we have lamb kebab and Ash-e Doogh (Traditional Iranian Soup) in a local cozy restaurant, next we drive back to Tehran (Alternatively you can choose to use a domestic flight from Ardabil to Tehran).

Day 5

Extra day (Optional day 5): Today after having breakfast we leave the Hotel at 10:00, drive to the Ardabil (approx. 2-3 hours), Visit traditional bazaar and have lunch in bazaar, After having lunch we go to Visit Sheikh Safi al-din Khanegah, then we drive back to Tehran, you can see amazing path back after Ardabil named “Gardane Heyran”, after Gardaneh Heyran, we stand for a moment side the beach, then we continue to Tehran, at 19:00  We have Dinner in the restaurant, we arrive to Tehran at 24:00 and have rest in hotel.
